Una Farrar x Dime x Vans Mixxa Montreal-based skate shop Dime has made a name in the collaborative footwear space, previously teaming up with Vans on the Half Cab and Rowley XLT . For the duo’s next project, they’ve decided to celebrate Vancouver-based skater Una Farrar with a colorway of the Vans Mixxa.
The pair reflects a versatile, clean look, coming in an all-black colorway with a classic gum sole that can be worn as an everyday sneaker. "I wanted the colorway of the Mixxa to be quiet and clean so anybody can wear it. Black and gum is subtle and classic. It is a huge honor to see my name on a shoe and share it with brands I'm inspired and aligned with. I like the nostalgic silhouettes of the early 2000s, so the Mixxa was a perfect fit. I added a little extra luck on the side with the clover," says Una Farrar.
Una Farrar x Dime x Vans Mixxa The upper is crafted from suede and mesh, providing texture and durability. Subtle details, however, set this sneaker apart—Vans' iconic checkerboard pattern is warped and wavy along the collar and midfoot. At the same time, Farrar adds a personal touch with a clover design on the lateral forefoot, symbolizing her Irish heritage and a nod to bringing a bit of luck to every skater. Dime branding appears on the heel, while blue co-branded insoles feature Una’s sketches.
Beyond its aesthetic appeal, the Mixxa is built for performance. The shoe’s durable construction includes a stitched-on cupsole and a reinforced T-toe overlay to protect against wear and tear. DURACAP rubber underlays add extra durability in high-wear areas, while Vans’ SickStick rubber outsole provides excellent grip and board feel for skaters who demand the best functionality.
The Una Farrar x Dime x Vans Mixxa will release on September 21, 2024, via Dime, followed by a wider release on September 26, 2024, through Vans and select retailers online and in-store.
