adidas successfully revived the Jabbar in 2024. After various inline colorways and a collaboration with atmos, the German sportswear giant is set to release one more limited edition colorway before the year ends. This collaborative shock drop with Footpatrol sees the Jabbar Low receive a Triple Black makeover.
With such a sleek and understated aesthetic, the emphasis on the Footpatrol x adidas Jabbar Low is on the materials used. The upper is crafted primarily from nubuck and treated with a waxed finish, adding depth and texture to the design. Leather Three Stripes branding runs along the midfoot for a subtle contrast, complementing this minimalist approach.
At the rear, another material switch-up in the design uses faux pony hair for the heel tab, which brings a tactile element to the otherwise monochromatic design. On the lateral side of the heel tab, a retro-inspired green tag with Jabbar embroidered in gold thread adds a pop of vintage charm and color. This detail is the only visible logo, replacing the usual bold tongue graphics, keeping the aesthetic clean and refined.
The sneaker features a vachetta tan leather collar liner, offering soft, luxurious comfort. This color choice subtly contrasts the all-black exterior, further elevating the premium look and feel. The upscaled intentions extend to the insoles, as thick padded leather stamped with adidas branding lines the footbeds.
The pair arrives in a vintage-inspired box highlighting the sneaker's retro-modern vibe. The heritage, adapted from a 1970s adidas shoebox design, is proudly displayed with a graphic of Kareem Abdul-Jabbar emblazoned on one side. The French language scrawled across the box is a further nod to the sneaker's origins, as the leather for the original pairs was sourced from France-based adidas factories.
The Footpatrol x adidas Jabbar Low was released on December 7, 2024 and is available now via Footpatrol online and in-store. In unisex sizing, retail is £100 (approx $128). He will forever profess that Cricket is better than Baseball and that Rugby League is better then Rugby Union. Among his many hot takes, he believes the adidas ZX range is the pinnacle of sneaker design.
