Converse may be best known for the Chuck Taylor, but the brand’s archives run deep. In the ‘70s, the company purchased the rights to Jack Purcell’s sneaker from PF Flyers, a model designed by the badminton star in 1935. It has since become a classic. Bringing some energy to the model, Japanese label Various Artists and Hiroshi Fujiwara’s fragment design are launching a collaborative colorway on the sneaker.
Retaining its classic canvas and rubber construction, the silhouette undergoes a minimal makeover that, unless inspected closely, looks like the standard black and white colorway. Black canvas covers most of the upper, with white stitching details around metallic silver lace eyelets and on the top of the tongue. Rubberized toe caps in black and white help reinforce the upper, while the black rubber runs along the edge of the upper and sole unit back to the heel.
