While sneakerheads have been tuning in to what Asics has to drop in the lifestyle realm, the Japanese footwear brand is still making major strides in the performance category. Marking a pivotal moment in their ongoing partnership with running brand Bandit, the duo are launching their first collaborative sneaker, a special colorway of the Asics NovaBlast 5.
Drawing inspiration from the sculptural aesthetics of renowned Japanese American artist Isamu Noguchi, the Bandit x Asics NovaBlast 5 features a knitted upper with intricate blends of sheer and opaque textures, enhanced by translucent, no-sew appliqués inspired by Noguchi's abstract "Current" shape. Subtle curves and organic forms are integrated throughout the design, seen clearly in the transparent lace infographic, sculptural eyelet shapes, and heel detailing.
