There are a few prominent arms races currently popping off in the sneaker industry. Brands are battling to stack running shoe soles as high as possible to get as much energy return, they are fighting for the same molded clog and hybrid dress shoe space, and everyone is looking to see who can add as much animal print as possible. When it comes to tech advancements, though, the most interesting sneaker brand competition by far is the exploration of 3D printing. Now, the same week that we get a look at the upcoming pack of 3D-printed adidas Climacool colorways, Nike is back with another color of its Air Max 1000.
The Nike Air Max 1000 takes the 3D-printed sneaker and covers it in monochrome purple for one of the brightest colorways of the silhouette yet. Drawing attention to the Air Max 1 inspiration of the model and its waxy, textured, yet soft futuristic material. Starting from the purple on the Air bubble, the exposed cushioning pops in bright red, with an Air Max 1000 logo in the middle.
To produce the future-ready Air Max 1000 slip-on, Nike tapped the 3D printing experts at Zellerfeld, who have access to proprietary production methods and materials that produce a 3D-printed shoe unlike anything else on the market. The flexible material is both soft and supportive, adding a level of comfort that has been hard to find in other 3D-printed models. So far, there have only been four colorways, the red ComplexCon exclusive, a blue version for Paris, a black colorway launched exclusively through Zellerfeld, and the Oatmeal pair that hit SNKRS in August.
The Nike Air Max 1000 Purple was loaded onto Zellerfeld’s website briefly in the early hours of October 9, but it was quickly taken off the site. We’re not sure if that means a drop is imminent or if they’re prepping for a later launch. Anyway, expect a drop sometime in the Holiday 2025 season through Zellerfeld and potentially Nike. Available in men’s sizing, the retail price is set at $179. To be the first to find out the exact drop date on this pair when more info is available, don’t forget to download the .
