Last November, Nike introduced the world to its latest innovation in the Air Max family with the Air Max 1000. It marked a first for Nike in many ways, though notably, it is the first-ever fully 3D printed silhouette to come from Beaverton and is the first time the brand has worked with 3D printing gurus Zellerfeld. Around 1,000 individuals (including this writer) secured a pair at ComplexCon, and orders are beginning to ship out to winners in early June. However, Sole Retriever can confirm that the Air Max 1000 will get a retail release in the Oatmeal colorway during the Summer 2025 season.
The silhouette is a forward-thinking reimagination of the original Air Max 1 silhouette, morphing it into a 3D-printed futuristic design. Zellerfeld’s manufacturing technique and the specific filament used are much different than other 3D-printed models on the market. For example, those from adidas or Puma, as the soft, flexible properties of the Air Max 1000 (and other Zellerfeld-made models) make them some of the most comfortable. Textured panels run along the wavy mudguard, while a mini Swoosh logo is debossed onto the midfoot of the upper.
