If you haven’t noticed, the sneaker industry is currently obsessed with zippers. From basketball shoes to tactical gorpcore urban hikers, the shoe brands are having a field day hiding tongues underneath a zip-up coat. Paired with Nike’s 30th anniversary obsession with the Air Max 95, it is only right that Beaverton brings back an underheralded retro, the Air Max 95 Z.
Returning as the Nike Air Max 95 Zip, the first colorway of the retro 95 remix comes in Loyal Blue. First previewed in-hand by StockX marketing guru Brendan Dunne, the official images of the blue colorway show a hairy blue suede covering the T-toe and wavy side panels. The monochrome upper extends onto the shield that covers the rest of the upper, but changes to black on the weatherproof zipper running down the middle of the shoe. Underneath the winter coat, the tongue returns to hairy blue suede with black laces. Contrasting color is added with crimson hits on the heelside Swoosh, Air Max tongue labels, and the Air bubbles in the midsole. The midsole is a dark brown color that really brings it all together.

In addition to the blue colorway, Dunne posted preview pictures of a black suede 95 Zip, but as of now, we’re still waiting on official images of that pair. Nike has been going all out for the AM 95 this year, bringing out big bubble retro colorways, new collabs, and plenty of GR colorways.
The Nike Air Max 95 Zip SP Loyal Blue will be released Holiday 2025 through Nike and select retailers in-store and online. Available in men’s sizing, the retail price is set at $200.
