Nike just crowned LeBron James the “Forever King” in a new ad for James’ 23rd signature sneaker with the brand, the LeBron 23. The Los Angeles Lakers superstar and NBA legend has long leaned into the “King James” moniker throughout his storied career, officially using a crown logo on many of his Nike products over the last two decades, but his latest signature sneaker takes that to another level.
LeBron teased a weartest sample of the Nike LeBron 23 last month, but gave us a closer look at a pair that was expected to be a player-exclusive version about two weeks ago. The silhouette directly references the crown logo by incorporating its design into the overlays of the lateral profile.
We now know that the golden Nike LeBron 23 will be released to the public, with the pair officially titled “Uncharted.” The naming convention is an homage to LeBron holding the all-time scoring record in the NBA and becoming the first and only player in league history to surpass 40,000 points. To convey his royalty, the upper is coated in a metallic gold iridescent finish from heel to toe and contains a repetitive pattern across the upper that, according to Nike, "symbolizes the dignity and splendor inherent in LeBron’s extraordinary achievements."
