NBA superstar Kevin Durant has signed a lifetime contract with Nike, further solidifying his relationship with the iconic sportswear brand. Durant, who has been with Nike since his rookie season in 2007, has become one of the world's most recognizable and successful athletes both on and off the court. With this lifetime contract, the bond between Durant and Nike is poised to continue for decades, ensuring a lasting legacy in the basketball and sportswear industries.

“When I first signed with Nike, I couldn’t have dreamed of how far we’d go in this partnership," Durant said through his Boardroom platform, which broke the news. "We’ve done amazing work creatively and philanthropically. We’ve traveled the world together and built a business that will now last forever. I’m excited for the future and honored to be in rare company with this deal.”

Nike EVP of Global Sports Marketing John Slusher added, “As one of best basketball players in the world, Kevin Durant has been an important part of the Nike family for the past 16 years. We look forward to continuing to serve the next generation of athletes together.”

With a range of signature shoes under the Nike KD line, Durant has already established himself as a force in the sneaker world. This new agreement comes just days after we got our first looks at the latest signature silhouette from the Nike KD line, the KD 16. Durant also joins an elite few who have secured lifetime deals with The Swoosh, including Michael Jordan, LeBron James, and soccer superstar Cristiano Ronaldo. Outside of Nike, the only other major figure in sports to secure a lifetime deal with a sportswear brand is Steph Curry who recently inked a $1 billion deal with Under Armour.

Exact terms surrounding how much Durant will earn from this lifetime deal have been kept under wraps, but the figure is likely close to LeBron James’ $1 billion deal. What we do know is that the deal covers more than just footwear and apparel, as the two will continue to focus on grassroots basketball, such as philanthropic efforts in local communities.

As Kevin Durant embarks on this new chapter in his partnership with Nike, fans and sneaker enthusiasts can look forward to more Nike KD models that will continue after his retirement from the NBA.
