Jordan Brand has officially unveiled the latest entry in the flagship Air Jordan series, the Air Jordan 40. While we’re on the ground at a media event for the model’s debut, which we’ll have more to share later, official images of the first colorway of the Air Jordan 40 have emerged online.
Dubbed The Classic, the debut colorway of the Air Jordan 40 keeps things simple with its white, black, and vast grey palette. Premium tumbled leather details are found on the white base layer, while smooth black leather lands on the eyestays and collar. For the toecap, Jordan Brand opts for nubuck leather in vast grey, contrasting with the rest of the model.

Of course, with this model being the 40th iteration of Michael Jordan’s signature sneaker, there are plenty of Easter eggs and influences from previous Air Jordans. This includes nods to the Jordan 5 (the tongue), Jordan 13 (reflective details), Jordan 14 (stitched bone lines), Jordan 3 (heel clip and eyelets), Jordan 18 (iridescent window), and Jordan 12 (Jumpman on the outsole). Nike Air text is found on the AJ3-inspired heel clip, with a paint splatter design reminding us of classic White Cement colorways.
As for tech, the sneaker features full-length ZoomX foam and Zoom Strobel, providing one of the most plush experiences on the court. Containment comes from the 360-degree webbing on the interior. The design has a 40-degree herringbone traction pattern, a subtle nod to the model’s number, finishing things off.
The Air Jordan 40 The Classic will release on July 12, 2025, through Nike and select Jordan Brand retailers online and in-store. Available in men’s sizing, the retail price is $205.
