The viz-tech era is long-gone, but New Balance designer Charlotte Lee decided to revisit the ABZORB technology and reimagine what it would look like if NB had continued using the cushioning for the all-new ABZORB 2000. Since its initial release, virtually every pair has sold out online, and the Boston-based brand has even given key collaborator Joe Freshgoods his own ultra-limited version earlier in the year. Next up for the 2000 is a project with rapper and NB ambassador Aminé, who teased us with the matcha-adjacent Biblioteca colorway last month. However, there’s an even more limited version of his NB 2000 collab launching exclusively in Portland this week.
To coincide with The Best Day Ever Fest, a two-day music festival hosted by Aminé in Portland, Oregon, the rapper has cooked up a multi-color version of his Biblioteca New Balance ABZORB 2000. The multi-color design immediately conjures up Y2K-era BAPE sneakers, but it's a clear nod to the color palette for The Best Day Ever Fest, which uses a multi-color arrangement for its graphics. A baby blue engineered mesh base is contrasted by screenprinted overlays in orange, yellow, and green, while pink takes over the sockliner and portions of the sole unit.
