Following up a consensus “Sneaker of the Year” is a tough task, just ask adidas and Anthony Edwards. Ant’s signature sneaker, the adidas AE 1, took the world by storm and was so successful that The Three Stripes delayed the release of the AE 2 to offer more colors of the original. Now, after nearly two years, Anthony Edwards’ second sneaker is almost here, and so far, the colorways are looking great. Following looks at the AE 2 With Love and a Minnesota Timberwolves-friendly Blue Fusion, official images of a clean black, white, and red AE 2 have emerged.
Black acts as the primary color for this AE 2, with white accents landing on the piping of the TPU louvres on the forefoot and around the faux carbon fiber heel counter on the back half of the sneaker. The louvres themselves are also cast in black, partially revealing the black textile midfoot panel. Moving up, more black hues are present on the Primeknit collar and neoprene tongue. Here is where we get our first hit of lucid red. Anthony Edwards’ logo takes on this shade, matching the Three Stripes applied to the heel tab. Finishing the sneaker is the black and white midsole and outsole featuring Lightstrike and Lightboost cushioning, a propulsion plate, and a multi-directional rubber herringbone traction pattern.

Anthony Edwards and adidas made the sneaker world wait nearly two years from the release of the adidas AE 1 before officially presenting the AE 2 late last month. The early leaks and discussion around the model online seemed to lean toward the negative, but as we get closer to the launch of the With Love colorway in the next few weeks, it seems public opinion is shifting in a positive direction. On-foot images and looks at clean colorways like this black, white, and red rendition are only helping the model’s case as a solid follow-up, though we all have to admit it’s not as impactful as the original.
The adidas AE 2 Black White Red will release November 2025 through adidas and select retailers online and in-store. Available in men’s sizing, the retail price is set at $130.
