It’s really tough to follow up on a strong debut. This rings true not only in the world of music and film but also footwear. Just look at Anthony Edwards’ signature sneaker with adidas. The AE 1 launched in December 2023 and became the de facto Sneaker of the Year in 2024. Riding high on the unexpected success of the first sneaker, adidas delayed the AE 2 nearly a whole year, scrapping the design multiple times before ending up on the version that has been leaking over the last few months. However, during Ant’s Believe That China Tour, adidas officially debuted the AE 2.

As mentioned above, Anthony Edwards’ second signature sneaker, the adidas AE 2, has been leaked in a multitude of colors over the last few months. Sole Retriever reported on the entire Spring/Summer 2026 lineup for the sneaker in May and early images of pairs like the Blue Fusion have already hit the ‘net.

Reception to the sneaker online has been… not so great. Initial previews of early samples (which were later scrapped for the current design) likely played a role in the delay of the AE 2, but even still, the chatter surrounding the sneaker still pegs it below the original. That’s not to say that opinions have not changed; it’s clear that people are warming up to the new design, and official looks and on-foot images from Ant himself are only helping the narrative shift.

During Anthony Edwards’ first tour of China, the Minnesota Timberwolves star was also spotted wearing an even more exclusive version of the CLOT x adidas AE 1 Low, which unfortunately is a 1-of-1 for Ant. As for the adidas AE 2, expect the sneaker to debut in October 2025 for $130.
