Shai Gilgeous-Alexander can’t wait for the world to purchase his first signature sneaker with Converse, the Converse Shai 001, as he’s previewed multiple colorways ahead of the model’s debut in Fall 2025. First was the Butter colorway, which SGA and other Converse athletes in the league have worn. Quickly following this was a teaser of the Ares Grey, which was crafted in honor of SGA’s son. Now, Gilgeous-Alexander’s mother inspires a stealthy triple black rendition of the Shai 001.
A no-sew upper featuring TPU and neoprene paneling is coated entirely in a stark black shade, with the puffy neoprene paneling on the midfoot and collar standing above the rest of the upper. A zipper shroud conceals the lacing setup, partially obscuring Shai’s hand-drawn logo on the tongue, which comes embroidered in a dark grey hue. As for the name Charm Black, it’s derived from Shai’s mom’s name, Charmaine.
Converse’s chevron logo is displayed on the heel tab, while the only other branding hit on the upper is found on the lateral toe, which features an Air Zoom logo. Inside, the sneaker comes with an Air Zoom unit and a full-length foam cushioning setup for comfort on the court. Finishing the design is the black rubber outsole.
The Converse Shai 001 Charm Black will release October 2, 2025 (alongside the Masi Blue and Hail Clay colorways) through Converse, Nike SNKRS, and select retailers online and in-store. Retail is set at $130. Download the Sole Retriever mobile app to stay updated on the latest releases, raffles, news, and more in the sneaker and streetwear world.
