Converse Gave OKC Fans First Dibs at Shai Gilgeous-Alexander’s Converse Shai 001

The Oklahoma City Thunder finally brought an NBA Championship to the city (no, we don’t count their tenure as the Seattle SuperSonics), and a large part of this was thanks to NBA MVP and Converse signature athlete Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. Leading up to the postseason and throughout the playoffs, SGA and Converse debuted multiple colorways of the Converse Shai 001, including the Masi Blue, Hail Clay, Charm Black, Ares Grey, and a special 1-of-1 Trophy Gold colorway. However, the public has not had a shot at the sneaker until now.
Converse hosted a special pop-up in Oklahoma City, where fans could win a free pair of Converse Shai 001s in the debut Butter colorway. Teasers for the event began to hit social media on Monday, with a box truck rolling through the city with Shai 001s visible thanks to the see-through glass.
Even though the event started at 1 PM, fans began to line up at 6 AM, causing the line to extend 2-3 blocks down the street. A randomized drawing every 20 minutes gave all fans a fair chance, and a lucky few walked away with a pair of the Converse Shai 001 Butter. Many of them decided to lace them up on the spot.
If you want to cop a pair of the Converse Shai 001, you won’t have to wait too long as the Fall 2025 debut is just around the corner. Expect to see the Butter colorway hit shelves first for a retail price of $130.
