NBA MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander Celebrates His Wife Hailey with the Converse Shai 001 Hail Clay

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and the Oklahoma City Thunder look en route to the NBA Finals. Their first game in the Western Conference Finals was a blowout victory against the Timberwolves, 114-88, though there are still three more wins to secure a trip to the finals. The day following this major win, news broke that SGA was named the 2024-2025 NBA MVP. To celebrate this accomplishment, the Converse athlete unveiled a brand new colorway of his first signature sneaker, the Converse Shai 001, inspired by his wife, Hailey.
SGA takes inspiration from his wife Hailey’s clay brown eyes for this take on the Shai 001. As has been the case with the colors revealed so far, including the Butter, Ares Grey, and Charm Black, this Hail Clay pair is doused in a monochromatic finish. The clay-shaded no-sew upper features neoprene, synthetic paneling, and a zipper shroud covering the tongue.

Other details on the upper include Converse Chevron logos on the heel and SGA’s custom logo on the tongue, which he designed and drew. As for tech specs, we do know, based on the Air Zoom logo on the sole unit, that the pair features the cushioning setup typically reserved for Nike products. Outside of this, the actual composition of the foam midsole is unknown. Finishing the sneaker is the tonal rubber outsole.
The Converse Shai 001 Hail Clay has no confirmed release date, but if it does launch, expect it later in the year after the Butter colorway. Pricing is set at $130.
