Shai Gilgeous-Alexander Debuts Three New Shai 001 Colorways on Jimmy Fallon
It’s been a big week for Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. The reigning NBA MVP, Larry O’Brien trophy holder, Finals MVP, and NBA 2k26 cover star [takes deep breath] dropped his first shoe, the Converse Shai 001, on Thursday, popping out at Kith Toronto to personally hand out pairs to a long line of adoring fans. But if you couldn’t make it to The 6 to see Shai in person, all you had to do was turn on your TV last night to see SGA debut three new colorways of the Shai 001 on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon.
After discussing the 2K cover and dressing Fallon up in a tunnel-ready ‘fit, Gilgeous-Alexander broke out the original sketch for the Shai 001, talked up the design team at Converse, and brought out three new colorways of his new signature shoe, Charm Black, Hail Clay, and Masi Blue.
The three new pairs continue the monochrome design from the debut Butter pair, covering the shoe in pale blue, triple black, and light brown. Gilgeous-Alexander described the inspiration behind each colorway to Fallon, noting that the hail clay was the same color as his wife’s eyes, the mossy blue is his brother’s favorite color, and that the triple black takes after his mother’s “pitch black” clothing preferences.
The Converse Shai 001 in Charm Black, Hail Clay, and Masi Blue will be released October 2, 2025 through select Converse retailers in-store and online.
