The concept of new sneakers taking inspo from old sneakers is hardly groundbreaking. In fact, sneaker culture has been doing this since day one. Just look at the upcoming Jordan MVP 92 Gym Red, which pays clear homage to one of Jordan Brand's most legendary icons.
First released in '09, the Air Jordan 5 Raging Bull arrived as part of the Defining Moments Pack and instantly cemented itself as one of the greatest AJ 5s of all time. Wrapped in bold red suede with reflective silver detailing, it embodied the fearless attitude of Michael Jordan’s on-court dominance. Over a decade later, it remains a grail for collectors, influencing countless red-heavy color combos across the Jumpman archive.

That same energy is replicated on the MVP 92. Up top, the sneaker is dressed in premium gym red leather, contrasted with breathable mesh panels across the sidewalls. The padded collar and tongue provide long-lasting comfort, and speaking of which, the latter is stitched with the iconic “Flight” logo that has been a Jordan Brand signature since the late ’80s. A fabric pull tab sits around the heel for easy wear, and underfoot, the Air Jordan 7-inspired midsole is equipped with Nike Air cushioning for lightweight responsiveness.
The Jordan MVP 92 Gym Red is just one of several colorways dropping this season. Scheduled to launch during Holiday 2025, it will release worldwide at Nike and select retailers both online and in-store for $145.
