When rumors circulated in 2022 that Nike SB was linking back up with Jordan Brand to revamp the Air Jordan 4 for skate, people immediately became hyped. After seeing both Eric Koston and Paul Rodriguez skate in a Black Cat wear test sample, the excitement continued to rise. While that pair did not release, we did get the Nike SB x Air Jordan 4 Retro Pine Green in March 2023.
This drop was one of (if not) the best sneaker release of the year. It is a great sneaker, and Nike SB revamped the AJ 4, making iterations that better fit a skater while improving on comfort. The result saw Jordan Brand take the mold for the Nike SB x Air Jordan 4 and use it on all future silhouette releases, starting with the Bred Reimagined release.
While rumors quickly began to circulate that the Nike SB x Air Jordan 4 Retro would be released in various colorways following the success of the Pine Green pair, none of this came to fruition in 2023. A Blue Sapphire pair, the Black Cat wear test sample, and a few unknown colorways were all alluded to. However, none were released. Many thought that the collaboration between Nike SB and Jordan Brand ended when JB decided to use the SB AJ 4 as the base for all Jordan 4 releases in the future. Luckily, that is not the case!
