The Mexican holiday of Dia de los Muertos, or Day of the Dead, is an annual celebration of the dead during harvest season at the end of October and beginning of November. For sneaker brands, the holiday is an opportunity to pay homage to Mexican tradition. We’ve already seen photos of the pan de muerto-inspired Campus 00 collection adidas has planned for this year’s festivities, and now, Nike joins the party with a “Somos Eternos” colorway of the Air Jordan 1 Low.
Air Jordan 1 Low SE Somos Eternos
The Jordan 1 Low features alternating light blue and cream leather panels on the upper, with pale pink accents on the laces, tongue logo, Swoosh, and outsole. The Dia De Los Muertos theme is seen in the unique sun graphic tongue logos and a custom pebbled Swoosh with perforations around it. The name somos eternos translates to “we are eternal” in English, a clear reference to the celebration of passed loved ones. The holiday-specific accessories continue to the Somos Eternos script and Jumpman logo on the box in gold and a “23” logo candle sticker.
Sneaker brands have been celebrating Dia de los Muertos for decades now, and it is often a high point of the Fall sneaker season. The Nike SB Dia de los Muertos Dunk is the cream of the crop, but Nike’s ‘Somos Familia” (We are Family) Pack from 2022 was a recent standout, with an all-star mix of a Dunk High, Jordan 1 High, Air Max 1, and Air Force 1, all done in seasonal blends of orange, grey, and black.
The Air Jordan 1 Low SE Somos Eternos will be released on September 8, 2025 at atmos Japan, but if you can’t make it Japan, a global release is slated for Holiday 2025. Available in men’s sizing, the retail price is set at $145. Download the Sole Retriever mobile app to stay updated on the latest releases, raffles, news, and more in the sneaker and streetwear world.
