Thousands of options for your digital Nike Dunk Low will soon be available.

RTFKT x Nike Dunk Genesis

The second half of 2021 brought with it the metaverse and NFT craze, a push by many companies to enter a new digital landscape. StockX seemed to be the first company to dip their toes into the NFT space with their tokens that could be redeemed for physical footwear, though they are still in a lawsuit with Nike over the use of their product images in this quasi-NFT. The Swoosh is likely suing over the fact that they’re making their entry into the space with the help of RTFKT, a company that was acquired by Nike to help usher them into the NFT space.

Now the first project between the two has been announced, Nike CryptoKicks, launching with the RTFKT x Nike Dunk Genesis and Skin Vial technology allowing you to customize and upgrade any compatible sneakers the duo will release in the future. For the initial launch, eight unique skins released under EVO X branding will allow you to evolve your Skin Vial through Drip Upgrades and Powers. As stated in their announcement video, legendary collaborators, artists, and the RTFKT community will spearhead future Skin Vials to collect, allowing you to customize your kicks with thousands of skins as the project evolves.

With the announcement so fresh, only the future will tell what RTFKT and Nike have in the pipeline when it comes to forthcoming Nike CryptoKicks. Currently, you can head over to OpenSea and start collecting various Skin Vials and RTFKT x Nike Dunk Low Genesis, upgrading and evolving your digital sneakers. For updates on Nike’s first venture into the metaverse, keep it locked to our Twitter and Mobile App to stay up to date on future releases.
