The Air Jordan 6 Retro Reverse Infrared Sample Releases Spring 2026
Published
OG Air Jordan colorways always bring out the masses, but when Jordan Brand finally releases previously sampled versions of retro J’s, it sends sneakerheads into a frenzy. There’s something so special about copping what was once virtually impossible to own. Fans of the Air Jordan 6 will be pleased to hear that in Spring 2026, the Air Jordan 6 Retro Reverse Infrared sample, a pair that for many only existed through eBay listings and old catalogs, will get a release, albeit with some changes.
For those unaware of the history, the Air Jordan 6 Infrared was one of the original colorways released in 1991. Ahead of Jordan Brand retroing the model in 2000, the label went through various sample versions of the Infrared colorway that included what we know as “Reverse Infrared” (even if the pair doesn’t reverse the color scheme). Instead, the pair, which dates to 1999, adds infrared hues to most of the midsole instead of reserving the shade for the heel and parts of the toe.

Previous reports indicated the pair was returning with the infrared 23 shade, which is synonymous with the AJ 6, but Sole Retriever can report that the pair will not utilize this red hue. Instead, the pair will come with a black and light crimson combo, applying the latter shade to the Jumpman on the tongue, the OG Nike Air embroidery on the heel, and the midsole. The rest of the upper is coated in black nubuck material.
Also special for this pair is the packaging and added accessories. Jordan Brand has decided to play into the whole sample theme by using a special sample-style box and tags, similar to how they come from factories. For example, samples usually feature tags that show the factory where they were produced, with many Nike and Air Jordans coming from Feng Tay. Expect to see a Feng Tay-style tag attached to the shoe.
The Air Jordan 6 Retro Reverse Infrared Sample will release in Spring 2026 through Nike and select Jordan Brand retailers online and in-store. The sneaker will be available in full-family sizing.
