When Nike first released the initial entry into the Greater Than series of performance basketball sneakers, the Nike GT Cut 1, hoopers around the world gave high praise to the model. Since then, the series has expanded to include the GT Hustle and GT Jump, but the Cut is still the most preferred amongst your average ball player. While innovations have come and more than four models have hit the market, the original is still a fan favorite, and Nike listened to fans of the model by offering a retro of the sneaker in 2025. After the launch of the Think Pink colorway and an upcoming White Chrome rendition, the sneaker is getting a Black Chrome makeover.
Nike retains the original design details and technology that made the GT Cut 1 a fan favorite to begin with, starting with the breathable mesh base layer. Reinforcements and padding are found on the neoprene toebox and tongue, the latter featuring the GT Cut’s arrow logo in the center, while a fused iridescent black TPU is found near the eyestays. A white outlined Swoosh sweeps across the midfoot back to the neoprene heel tab, again containing logos for the GT Cut.

Inside, a full React drop-in sole is paired with parabolic Air Zoom Strobel cushioning and a Zoom Air unit for unparalleled comfort on the court. Final details on the model include the mini white Swoosh on the medial part of the sole unit, a custom traction pattern for superior grip, and a heel clip locking your foot in place.
The Nike GT Cut 1 Black Chrome will release August 1, 2025, through Nike and select retailers online and in-store. Available in men’s sizing, the retail price is set at $190.
