adidas Beefs Up the Superstar With an XLG Update

adidas’ Superstar has served as a flagship model for the brand for over forty years, transitioning from a basketball sneaker to wear in everyday life. Giving the model a new spin, adidas is introducing the beefed-up Super Star XLG. While maintaining the Superstar's core elements, the XLG version supersizes the silhouette with a platform sole wider stripes for the signature branding motif. An EVA sock liner has also been added, while iconic shell toe has been subtly retooled.

Each Superstar XLG prepped for the initial launch utilizes classic color-blocking in smooth leather. All but one of eight pairs utilize a white base with color appearing on the Three Stripes, mustache, and tongue branding. Additionally, five are for men and three for women. The Men's black-and-white and white-and-black pairs maintain the gold "Superstar" text signature to the model, while the rest match their shoe's respective accents. The three other men's options are white and blue, white and green, and white and scarlet. Women then have white and sky, white and black, and white and green.

The adidas Superstar XLG is set to release July 17 through adidas and select retailers worldwide, both in-store and online. The sneaker is releasing in both men’s and women’s sizing, and the retail price is expected to be $110.
