Football season is definitely back, but you won’t see any of these on the field next week. Originally designed for the gridiron turf in the 1970s, long before the days of the Alpha Menace and Vapor Edge, the Nike Astrograbber came back last year through an exclusive Bode collaboration and has been top-of-mind since. Now, after a brief return this summer, the waffle sole lifestyle model is back in black leather, serving diet Bode vibes for those who missed out.
Designed with an upper full of soft black leather and a sail Swoosh, the black and tan leather colorway is a clear shout to the Bode pair from last year. Instead of the black sole on the collab pair, this one seemingly takes reference from another recent collaboration, adding a muslin sole just like Nigel Sylvester’s new Better With Time Jordan 1. The two-tone colorway continues on the tongue and laces, which both get the same sail color as the Swoosh.
Nike heads have been waiting for more Astrograbbers since the Bode drop, and after a year with no new drops, those wishes have finally been granted. The silhouette popped back up this summer with three pairs, Blue, Yellow, and Green, all in buttery nubuck, but the premium leather on the new black pair gives a clean, almost dressy edge to the football-turned-lifestyle retro.
The Nike Astrograbber Black Muslin Sail will be released for Holiday 2025, through Nike and select retailers online and in-store. Available in men’s sizing, the retail price is set at $160.
