Compared to a lot of other New Balances like the 1906R or even the ABZORB 2000, the 1500 is a relatively serious silhouette. But even you have to admit that the upcoming New Balance 1500 Made in UK Maple Syrup is pretty sweet – both literally and figuratively.
First introduced in '89, the 1500 was designed by legendary sneaker architect Steven Smith as a technical runner that blended stability with sleek, modern lines. Over the decades, it’s become a cult favorite, admired for its luxe materials, timeless shape, and consistent presence in NB's heritage catalog.

For this version, the sneaker works on top of a chocolatey brown mesh base, while Maple Syrup pigskin leather is poured all over for a premium look and feel. The legendary “N” logo is embroidered across the lateral and medial sides, while fine cotton laces tie everything together. Underfoot, the midsole is pre-yellowed for an archival aesthetic, and it’s infused with ENCAP cushioning that’s both comfortable and lightweight. For extra grip, the Boston sportswear giant has also added a gum rubber sole, keeping you on your feet at all times.
Of course, there’s no way you can talk about the 1500 Made in UK Maple Syrup without mentioning the fact that it’s… made in the UK. Crafted by some of the greatest shoemakers in New Balance’s Flimby factory, each pair is built to stand the test of time, balancing heritage and modernity in a way few sneakers can.
The New Balance 1500 Made in UK Maple Syrup is scheduled to release sometime in 2025. It’ll be available via New Balance and select retailers both online and in-store in men’s sizing. Want a pair?
