Foam-based slip-on footwear was one of 2022's biggest trends with every brand under the sun coming forward to introduce their take on the viral design to match the hype found on the Yeezy Slide, Foam RNNR, and Salehe Bembury’s take on the Croc - the Pollex Clog. While we did see Jordan Brand come forward with the System.23 silhouette, Nike itself didn’t enter this arena… until now. Strikingly similar to the Yeezy Slide, the Nike Calm Slide will debut this Fall in a slew of colorways and possibly look to fill the void that Yeezy has left behind.
Although we don’t have exact tech specs at this very moment, it's obvious the sneaker utilizes a two-piece foam and rubber construction, however, an injection point isn’t visible in these early photos so its exact manufacturing process is a mystery. An open toe near the front leads to the forefoot strap that slightly jets out from the side of the silhouette and offers a minimalistic branding hit in the form of a debossed Swoosh on the lateral side. On the comfort footbed, serrated lines provide grippy traction to help keep your foot in place and also contain Nike branding in the form of a Swoosh logo. Below the thick footbed, you’ll find a rubber outsole that looks similar to that of the AF1 Flyknit with its patterned lines. For its five launch colorways, we’re set to receive monochromatic takes including “Black,” “Sail,” “Sesame,” “Geode Teal,” and “Jade Ice.”
Launching Fall 2023, the Nike Calm Slide is set to debut in five different colorways, three unisex pairs, and one men’s and women’s release, through Nike and select retailers online and in-store. The retail price for the pair will come in at a cool $50.
