The Nike ISPA Link Axis Total Orange Sonic Yellow Releases September 12
Updated on •Published
Nike's commitment to sustainable fashion, particularly within the sneaker industry, has been a significant talking point in recent years. The introduction of the Nike ISPA Link in 2022 exemplified the brand's emphasis on circular design processes. When announcing this model, The Swoosh looked ahead to 2023 and the upcoming Nike ISPA Link Axis. Though it missed its “early 2023” launch target, the first colorway, "Total Orange Sonic Yellow,” is launching soon.
Building on the legacy of the original Link, the new iteration promises sustainability without compromising on style. A pristine white envelops the upper, creating a neutral canvas for the vibrant contrasts of the tongue. While the lateral side flaunts a bold orange, the medial side offers a hint of sonic yellow. A semi-translucent cage adds layers to the design, showcasing prominent Nike branding. Below sits a semi-translucent clear rubber sole unit, further elevating the visual appeal.
The sustainable efforts behind this model make it a game-changer. Its Flyknit upper, made from 100 percent recycled polyester, wraps seamlessly over the outsole, deviating from the conventional cut-and-sew method employed in the original Link and most footwear designs. Using 100 percent recycled TPU tooling derived from discarded airbag materials only adds to its environmental credentials. Embodying the core of circular design, the Link Axis champions material choice, waste minimization, and refurbishment. Finally, the sneaker's side cage is constructed with 20 percent recycled TPU.
The Nike ISPA Link Axis Total Orange Sonic Yellow will release August 11, 2023, through atmos Tokyo, with a broader release through Nike and global retailers on September 12. Coming in men’s sizing, the retail price is set at $300.
