Nike has long celebrated different cultures through exclusive sneaker releases for decades. In the early days of its skateboarding division, Nike SB, The Swoosh crafted four Nike SBs that to this day are some of the most sought-after sneakers in the entire footwear world: the Pigeon (NYC), Paris, London, and Tokyo SB Dunks. With a renewed interest in city-themed Dunks, recently seen with the likes of the Berlin and NYC Dunks, Nike is returning to Tokyo and taking inspiration from the city’s ultra-rare SB Dunk.
The color palette, which combines white and cream hues with a gum sole unit, is directly taken from the SB Dunk Low Tokyo, though the material choice of the upper adds a new twist to the design. Each panel has a different material: tumbled leather around the mudguard, suede on the eyelet, and faux ostrich leather on the heel overlay. For the midfoot panel, we see a textured suede with faux pony fur on the Swoosh.
