The Best FIFA World Cup Kits and The Sneakers To Match

The monthlong journey to determine the winner of the 2026 FIFA World Cup is underway. With 48 teams vying for spots in the knockout rounds, there has never been a wider variety of nations competing in the World Cup, which means there’s been a bigger pool of new kits to analyze and scrutinize to determine which was the best. Because of the staggering visibility of the World Cup with people around the planet tuning in to cheer their team to victory, this has become an amazing opportunity for brands all around to showcase their respective teams.

Because Sole Retriever is still nominally a website about sneakers, we could not just straight up rank every kit on the pitch. Along with picking our favorites of the kits we’ve seen so far in qualifiers and on the Group Stage, we also picked out sneakers for people to rock alongside the best of the best.

20. Netherlands Home

Netherlands

Brand: Nike

Sneaker To Match: Patta x Nike Cryoshot Mercurial Vapor R9

As a fan of F1, I quickly noticed that the Netherlands’ Max Verstappen has a large fan base that wears orange, and the same goes for their national team. That’s because orange is the national color of the country’s royal family, the House of Orange-Nassau. Simple enough explanation, just like the jersey is simple yet elegant. But when paired up with the Patta x Nike Cryoshot collaboration, it’s a standout in the over 100 kits that will be seen in the tournament.

19. Scotland Away

Scotland

Brand: adidas

Sneaker To Match: adidas Ultra Boost X Trace Scarlet

The light bubble gum vibes of Scotland’s Away kit is meant to be a subtle homage to the country’s kits from the early 20th century. Currently, adidas call this shade of pink Trace Scarlet. While there aren’t a lot of current adidas sneakers that use Trace Scarlet, there were a handful of releases in the late 2010s that featured all-pink uppers, such as the Ultra Boost X with the laceless construction.

18. England Home

England

Brand: Nike

Sneaker To Match: Palace x Nike Cryoshot Air Speed M

None of England’s kits matches nicely with Palace’s Cryoshot collaboration, unless you count their own custom kit that the national team will not be wearing on the pitch. But considering Palace’s counterculture vibes, it’s for the best that the pairing of kit and soccer boot turned sneaker is not a perfect pairing.

17. Sweden Away

Sweden

Brand: adidas

Sneaker To Match: adidas Adizero Boston 13

It might be runners made for the Boston Marathon, but the Adizero Boston 13 in the blue and yellow colorway complements Sweden’s Away kit. It’s a perfect match if you’re going to be in the stands copying Viktor Gyökeres’s Bane mask celebration.

16. Colombia Away

Colombia

Brand: adidas

Sneaker To Match: adidas ZX 8000 Consortium Blue Glow

Colombia’s Away kit will have you thinking about going on vacation instead of participating in the biggest sporting event in the world. So whether you are sipping on a margarita at the beach or cheering on the team that has dark horse potential, an iconic sneaker you can match the away kit with is the legendary adidas ZX 8000 in the Blue Glow (aka aqua) colorway.

15. Norway Home

Norway

Brand: Nike

Sneaker To Match: Air Jordan 9 Motorboat Jones

With striker Erling Haaland on the squad, Norway is making its long-awaited return to the World Cup stage, having been shut out of the competition since 1998. The pressure is on Haaland to deliver a good result that Norway can be proud of, but you don’t have to worry about any of that besides picking out a great sneaker to match Norway’s home kit. While there is the Air Jordan 9 Chile Red from 2022 that would also match nicely with the kit, the iconic Motorboat Jones Jordan 9 from the Johnny Kilroy Pack might have the slight edge. Never underestimate the comedic factor of having to explain the absolutely true story of Motorboat Jones to a Norwegian.

14. Ghana Away

Ghana

Brand: Puma

Sneaker To Match: Puma MB.04 Golden Child

Seemingly dipped in royal yellow gold, Ghana’s Away kit is a stunner even from miles away. The same could be said for the Puma MB.04 colorway that dubs LaMelo Ball the game of basketball’s golden child. After several years in the league, it’s a little old to still be referring to Ball as a kid or some sort of Chosen One, but the sneakers are every bit the flashy performer as the Ghana kits.

13. France Away

France

Brand: Nike

Sneaker To Match: Jacquemes x Nike Cryoshot Tiempo R10 (or Nike Kobe 6 Protro Jalen Brunson Statue of Liberty PE)

France always delivers with their World Cup kits, and this iteration is no different, with their away look giving a subtle nod to the Statue of Liberty that was gifted by the country to the USA back in 1886. If you’re looking for a more neutral color, the Jacquemus Cryoshots go with just about anything, but if you want a more direct Statue of Liberty vibe, Jalen Brunson of the (wait for it) NBA Champion New York Knicks has a pair of Statue of Liberty-inspired Nike Kobe Protros at his disposal.

12. Ivory Coast Home

Ivory Coast

Brand: Puma

Sneaker To Match: Puma Palermo Green Orange

With an orange and green color palette, the Ivory Coast has plenty of options within the Puma oeuvre when it comes to matching sneakers. The Palermo is a staple of the brand’s lineup of classic sneakers, and it recently got a green and orange colorway that feels like it was made for this World Cup.

11. Austria Away

Austria

Brand: Puma

Sneaker To Match: Puma Hali 1

Hidden in the marble-tinted Austrian Away kit are hits of pink and purple veins that give the kit a sophisticated look, like an antique that would be found in one of Austria’s many historical cathedrals and palaces. While the Puma Hali 1 is far from antique, Tyrese Haliburton’s absence has to make one wonder if the sneaker is on its way to antique status. Is Puma getting ready for the Hali 2, or will they want to follow their star’s timeline and give the sneaker a proper chance with a healthy Tyrese?

10. USA Home

USMNT

Brand: Nike

Sneaker To Match: Virgil Abloh Archives x Nike Cryoshot Zoom M9

A throwback to the best days of the USMNT - which this iteration is hoping to replicate on home soil - the red and white stripes take precedence as it wraps around the entire jersey with a ripple effect look giving the illusion of a flag that’s being waved. Team USA’s Cryoshot is also a blast from the past as the Zoom M9 were the boots of choice by the legendary Mia Hamm during the USWNT’s World Cup-winning run in 1999.

9. Brazil Away

Brazil

Brand: Jordan Brand

Sneaker To Match: Air Jordan 3 Brazil

It’s far from the most conventional of Air Jordan 3 colorways, but it can be forgiven because Brazil working with Jordan on their away kit is pretty historic. For the first time ever, the Jumpman will be on a team’s kit for the World Cup, so expectations for what sneaker Jordan Brand would release to match were always going to be unreasonably high. Unfortunately, the sneaker has turned out to be very divisive, but still a good match for the kit.

8. Uruguay Away

Uruguay

Brand: Nike

Sneaker To Match: Nike Mind 001 Flyknit Slide

One of the favorite kits of the tournament so far is Uruguay’s away look, which is inspired by the 1930 World Cup that was hosted and won by Uruguay. Some people thought it was Black Panther-inspired, but that did not turn out to be the case, as the fictional nation of Wakanda would be in East Africa, not anywhere near the South American country. With one of the hottest kits of the World Cup, it only makes sense to feature a sneaker (or is it sneaker-adjacent) that is also getting plenty of buzz in the Nike Mind.

7. Portugal Away

Portugal

Brand: Puma

Sneaker To Match: Puma Stewie 2 Water

With several teams going for the wavy look, Portugal went ahead and put literal waves on their away kits. Naturally, we had to dig a little deeper to find a sneaker that would match up nicely with Cristiano Ronaldo’s squad, but we think we found a great match with the Puma Stewie 2. Based on Breanna Stewart’s earthy-themed sneakers during the Stewie 2’s run, we’re giving it a second run as a complementary piece to one of the top teams in the entire tournament.

6. Senegal Home

Senegal

Brand: Puma

Sneaker To Match: Puma Brasil Wild Green

Inspired by the hand-painted graphics found on buses throughout Senegal, this is one of the more personal pieces by one of the countries involved in the tournament. The faded nature of the graphics doesn’t detract by looking faded, instead speaking to the character and rich history of the nation. One of the sneakers featured on the search results for Senegal-related merch is Puma Brasil in the Wild Green colorway.

5. Argentina Home

Argentina

Brand: adidas

Sneaker To Match: Lionel Messi x Kith x F50 Inframe

Adidas was part of the slew of brands that tried to make #BootsOnlySummer a fashion trend in 2025, with attempts to convert football boots into wearable on-the-street sneakers. The result is the F50 Inframe that seemingly came and went. However, a renewed interest for them began when they unveiled an entire Messi capsule collection alongside Kith that includes the F50 Inframe again, but with Messi’s stylistic choices to the design.

4. South Korea Away

South Korea

Brand: Nike

Sneaker To Match: PEACEMINUSONE x Nike Cryoshot CTR 360 (or Nike Kobe 3 Protro All-Star Warning Label)

South Korea might have the best combined Home and Away kit for the World Cup, citing White Tigers and flowery imagery for their respective red and lavender jerseys. As a Laker fan, I am partial to the purple away kit, even though G-Dragon’s Cryoshot collaboration is probably better suited for the home kit.

3. Germany Away

Germany

Brand: adidas

Sneaker To Match: adidas Harden Vol. 10 Clear Cyan

There might not be a more casual look than adidas’ final Germany away kit before handing over the national team duties to Nike. The almost casual T-shirt look should not be taken as a negative but rather a nice sendoff that people will be able to wear long after the World Cup is over. The Harden Vol. 10 in the bright Clear Cyan is a bit of a harder sale outside of the court or in the stands of a World Cup match, but they are a great match to the kits.

2. Mexico Home

Mexico

Brand: adidas

Sneaker To Match: adidas Samba Mexico

As a resident of a Los Angeles-adjacent city, you cannot step outside without seeing someone wearing the latest Mexico home kit by adidas. Call it an update to the 2022 kit or a function of Mexico being one of the host countries, but there is plenty of energy around here that wasn’t necessarily around for the 2022 edition. And there’s already a ready-made adidas Samba in the national colors, so there’s no discrepancy as to what the sneaker of choice should be.

1. Japan Away

Japan

Brand: adidas

Sneaker To Match: adidas Harden Vol. Jalen Williams Thunderbolt PE

During Japan’s tie against the Netherlands to begin the Group Stage, there was almost a New York Knicks vibe to AT&T Stadium as Japan wore their Home blue kits while the Dutch opted for their Home kit in bright orange. But for every dozen or so fans of Japan in the stands, there was one person rocking our pick for the best jersey of the entire tournament, Japan’s cream and multicolor-striped Away kit. Similar to the Germany Away kit, the beauty is in the kit’s subtle details, like the colors of the stripes representing the players and the 12th stripe shouting out the supporters. Coincidentally, those same colors can be found on the Jalen Williams Harden Vol. 10 Thunderbolt PE.
