The World Cup is days away. The best football teams across the globe are hitting the pitch to see which nation comes out on top. In celebration of the global game, Nike recruited seven designers to pair with their respective countries for a collection called X2. Together, the national teams and designers join forces to create apparel and footwear representative of their countries. Now official images of the Nike Cryoshot Tiempo R10 from French label Jacquemus have arrived.
Jacquemus x Nike Cryoshot Tiempo R10 Details
Jacquemus opts for an elevated take on the classic football boot worn by the legend Ronaldinho. The French footwear features a quilted all-white leather upper in a lavish change from the original’s synthetic makeup. A scorpion-inspired tongue shroud with Jacquemus is embroidered on the right sneaker, while a low-profile Swoosh is found on the left. In atypical Jacquemus style, the Swoosh remain their original size. On the back, two stars are embroidered on the heel of each shoe, representing France’s two World Cup victories. The raised Jacquemus branding on the lateral heel counter nearly blends in, keeping the look as clean as possible.
Though they may be trying to keep it sleek, the nods to France are still at the forefront, mostly visible in the sneaker’s midsole. While many of the other iterations of the Nike Cryoshot have implemented the clear midsole cage differently, Jacquemus honors France by highlighting the spikes encased in the cage with blue at the toe, white on the arch, and red at the heel. Another subtle nod to L’Hexagone are the red and blue leather aglets at the end of the laces.
