LaMelo is for the kids. The Zoomer hoops messiah plays on NBA courts like he’s still hooping at recess, and for the latest colorway of his Puma MB.05 signature shoe, Melo is looking to Cartoon Network, tapping Adult Swim staple Rick & Morty for a mismatched candy-colored pair of time-travelling basketball shoes.
Like everything LaMelo does, the Rick & Morty MB.05s are loud. The left shoe gets a blue and purple treatment, while the right shoe is done in orange and yellow, and both feature fonts and graphics with shoutouts to the animated show.
The left shoe starts with an all-over print wavy pattern in blue and red for a visual trick that ends up looking purple in places. The midsole and reinforced panels on the side and heel are all blue like Rick’s T-shirt, with teal on the tongue and forefoot wing accessory. The “Not From Here” and “One-of-1” graphics are all done in pink.
On the right shoe, the same optical illusion upper design is done in a mix of yellow, orange, and purple, with yellow on the midsole and upper panels, and orange on the tongue and TPU wing accessory. On the back heel of the shoes, the left features a Rick graphic and the right features Morty, with each shoe showing the titular character screaming into the void.
Melo has not shied away from tapping into the animated world for his signature sneakers. Previously, Rick & Morty took over the MB.01 and MB.02. The MB.04 featured collabs with Scooby Doo and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, the latter cartoon also getting an MB.01 and MB.03 Low. Finally, LaMelo paid homage to Dexter’s Laboratory with the MB.03.
The Rick & Morty x Puma MB.05 will be released November 21, 2025 through Puma and select retailers in-store and online. Available in adult and kids sizing, the retail price is set at $135 for the grown-up pairs and is still TBD for the GS sizes.
