Puma’s reentry into the performance basketball market began once LaMelo Ball’s signature sneaker line hit the market in 2021. Since then, Ball’s sneakers have become the highlight of the brand’s basketball output. Not only do his sneakers come in GR colors that have become fan favorites, but they are often subject to collaborations. Following up on the SLAM Magazine x Puma MB.04 launch and previews of two Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle-themed MB.04s, another pair has been confirmed to join the TMNT collection — the MB.01.
The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles villain Baxter Stockman comes to life on this MB.01, as the shapeshifting character directly appears on multiple upper parts. First, his portrait hits the iridescent-laden leather tongue overlay, depicting him in his mutated form. At the same time, the exact depiction is present on the heel next to Puma, TMNT, and LaMelo branding. Playing off his fly form, the upper comes with a graphic pattern applied to the monomesh base, taking on iridescent hues mixed with black fly patterns.
Helping reinforce the sneaker are fused TPU overlays in a dark smoke grey, taking on a semi-translucent finish on the mudguard, vamp, and eyestays. Although the pair is a collab with TMNT, the standard Puma MB.01 branding details and features remain, including the Not From Here, 1 Of 1, and phoenix logos, the embroidered phoenix wings on the lateral collar, and the Puma Formstrip near the lateral toe. Underfoot, the black NITRO Foam-cushioned midsole comes with a splatter paint finish and features “X” overlays near the heel, while the outsole below comes in an all-black finish.
The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles x Puma MB.01 Baxter Stockman will release in Spring 2025 through Puma and select retailers online and in-store. Available in men’s and GS sizing, the retail pricing has yet to be announced.
