The loafer trend isn’t going anywhere, and if there’s a lasting fad in the sneaker space, you already know Nike is gonna get in on it. Beaverton has already released a handful of formal sportswear hybrid silhouettes, but the Air Max Phenomena is the best of the bunch, and after debuting the shoe with two Serena Williams-designed colorways, the sport loafer is back and ready for the office in rich burgundy.
The Nike Air Max Phenomena Burgundy Crush keeps the loafer language intact with a premium pebbled leather upper in deep burgundy red. The only hit of contrast to the monochrome colorway is a metallic silver Swoosh in the middle of the decorative forefoot strap. The burgundy on the rubber midsole is a slightly different tone than the leather, but the Air Max Sunder tooling returns to a darker red that matches the upper.
Like it or not, the hybrid loafer trend started to take over with the New Balance 1906L, and since then, the formal upper and sporty sole trend has hit brands from Vans to Hoka. Outside of the Phenomena, Nike’s Air Afrique Air Max R61 and the Jordan Mule have brought the Swoosh fully into the office-ready fold.
The Nike Air Max Phenomena Burgundy Crush will be released Holiday 2025 through Nike and select retailers in-store and online. Available in women’s sizing, the retail price is set at $155. To keep up on the latest loafer updates, download the Sole Retriever mobile app.
