The sneaker loafer is here to stay. The hottest trend of 2025, the hybrid dress shoe with a formal upper and sports-ready sole, has been an inescapable craze like the Labubu of the sneaker design world. Nike gave us a look at its Air Max Phenomena slip-on loafer at the beginning of the Summer thanks to a collab with Serena Williams. Now we’ve got our first inline colorway on the way in black with hits of gold jewelry.
The Nike Air Max Phenomena Black is triple black for extra formal appeal, with premium pebbled leather across the upper and a gold Swoosh on the forefoot strap. That’s where the dress shoe design stops, with a wavy rubber apron on the bottom of the upper signaling the transition to sport mode. An Air Max Sunder sole unit with visible Air units in the heel and forefoot completes the look.

The Phenomena was introduced in June with two colorways from Serena Williams’ SWDC, including a cream and purple pair and a very familiar triple black combo with a metallic silver Swoosh logo. In addition to the Phenomena, the new Air Afrique x Nike RK61 and the Jordan Mule have jumped on the formal hybrid trend. Outside of Beaverton, New Balance’s 1906L has been the most popular sneaker loafer, but our favorite is still the sleeper hit from Keen.
The Nike Air Max Phenomena Black will be released Holiday 2025 through Nike and select retailers online and in-store. Available in women’s sizing, the retail price is set at $155.
