The Nike Zoom LeBron 3 (III) was designed by Ken Link, for the second consecutive year, and hit sneaker shelves in 2005. Link intended to enhance LeBron James’ durability by modeling the silhouette after an army boot. A few elements of the LeBron 2 rolled over into the LeBron 3 such as a full length Zoom Air unit and a Pebax support shell. LeBron James entered the NBA postseason for the first time in these shoes. However, it also added additional padding around the collar and high-wear areas to provide an extra layer of comfort and stability. The shoe stood out for its balance of luxury and performance, appealing to both the lifestyle and sports markets.
The LeBron 3 was released in several iconic colorways that remain popular among fans today. The 'SVSM Away' incorporated a green and gold design paying homage to LeBron's high school, St. Vincent-St. Mary. The 'Birthday' edition, a quickstrike release, presented a black and gold colorway, and the 'All-Star' model featured a blue and white design, which LeBron wore during the 2006 NBA All-Star Game. Each colorway had a story to tell, giving fans a more intimate understanding of LeBron James' journey.
