We are in a new era of streetwear. Sure, Supreme, Stussy, Palace, and a few heavyweights are still holding things down for millennials growing into elevated basics, but for the younger generation, it’s brands like Hellstar and Sp5der that are making waves. Planting a flag in the streetwear evolution, adidas is dropping a series of Superstars in collaboration with the leaders of the new school.
The latest streetwear Superstar is a friends and family exclusive from the Houston, Texas label Dios (Did It Ourselves), announced with a wink towards a potential future collab on a public release pair. The homies & familia pair covers the classic silhouette in off-white and intricate details. Starting at the front, the shell toe is reduced to a sliver of its usual size, covering just the toecap to create a more traditional toebox look. The Three Stripes on the side panels are stitched on pieces of cream fabric with yellow behind them. More yellow is added on an embroidered Dios label in graffiti lettering on the heel, with the same logo printed on the tongue. The back of the tongue features homies & familia branding above a stash pocket secured by a velcro closure. To finish it all off, the shoe features a translucent outsole with “Did It Ourselves” written across it, praying hands embroidered on the heel, and a gold Dios hangtag with matching gold lace caps.

For adidas, the streetwear collaborations with Hellstar, Sp5der, Menace, and now Dios have been a way to push hype towards the Superstar and raise awareness with a new generation who doesn’t remember Run DMC (or even MTV’s Run’s House). Whether or not the plan will turn the Superstar into 2026’s must-have shoe in high school hallways is still up in the air, but they’ve definitely started with a strong list of collaborators.
This pair of Superstars is just for homies & familia of the Dios team, but in the Instagram post showing off the exclusive pair, Dios offered to give away 10 pairs if you comment. They also mentioned that the not-for-sale Superstars were a precursor to “our biggest release ever this year,” so it's possible we’ll get a second pair of adidas collabs that will actually hit shelves.
