Los Angeles Streetwear Brand Menace Teases Upcoming adidas Superstar

The Three Stripes is going back to the street level. After establishing itself as a force in the streetwear world in the 1980s by embracing Run DMC’s shell-toe obsession, adidas is returning to those roots, giving the brands that are influencing street-level fashion culture a turn to design their own Superstars.

The latest streetwear brand to announce an adidas collaboration is Los Angeles label Menace. In an Instagram post announcing the partnership as a celebration of 12 years in business for the brand, Menace owner, Steven Menace, gave a very quick preview of the shoes, showing us the back of a pair of Superstars with a Menace “M” logo in a Yankees-style font on the right shoe and a Trefoil on the left. The heel counters are navy blue, the sock liner is pink, and the upper of the shoe is a cream suede with some sort of curved line design by the heel. The quick look at the shoes was joined by a more detailed look at the custom blue adidas Originals box, which features a Menace logo on the side and a Menace stencil logo graffiti’d on the inside of the lid. For now, that’s all we’ve got.

So far this year, adidas has teamed up with a handful of up-and-coming and lesser-known streetwear brands, tapping into the vibes that are actually moving the needle in youth fashion. In addition to Menace, the Three Stripes will partner with Hellstar and Sp5der on more Superstars, with another collab on the way from Dios. As to whether piggybacking on hot brands can bring some heat back to the Superstar…well, that’s yet to be seen.

We don’t have any firm release date or details on the Menace x adidas Superstar collab, but in an ad for the collaboration posted to Instagram this week, Menace noted that the shoe would drop sometime this month.
