Where would Nike be without visible air? The Air Max 1 floated onto shelves in 1987, changing sneakers forever. The Tinker Hatfield-designed shoes took Nike’s Air technology and revealed its inner workings and tech with a transparent “bubble” on the side of the midsole. The Air Max 1 is one of the most recognizable sneakers of all time and has remained a marvel of footwear design for decades, inspiring countless others.
The Nike Air Max 1 is a highly versatile model, originally launched as a running silhouette but eventually cemented as one of the most iconic lifestyle sneakers ever. Pulling inspiration from the French Centre Georges Pompidou, the sneaker's visible air bag was made to look like the glass tubes along the side of the building. The toebox is a soft breathable mesh and the upper features bold Swoosh logos across the lateral and medial sides.
The Air Max 1 is available in most stores across the world that carry Nike products. Nike's website and SNKRS app are loaded with pairs and even offer customization options via the Nike By You program. Large retailers like Foot Locker and JD Sports, as well as smaller boutiques worldwide, stock the sneakers and have several options of colorways readily available.

The Travis Scott x Nike Air Max 1 in "Saturn Gold" and "Baroque Brown" are releasing on May 27th, 2022. Find out more information about the release, raffle information, and what retailers are dropping the TS x Nike Air Max 1s on Friday!

Some of the more notable pairs include Powerwall and Skull packs, Chillis, Currys, and a plethora of city themed pairs.

There's entirely too many Air Max 1 collaborations to fit into one page but we'll try our best to highlight some of the most famous collaborations. The sneaker has been touched by music legends such as Travis Scott, Eminem, and the late great DJ Clark Kent, as well as the visual art worlds of Piet Parra, Ben Drury, and Kidrobot. Streetwear brands Clot, Patta, Supreme, and Huf have all taken their turn with the silhouette, while stores like Atmos and Concepts have created visual masterpieces that look more fit for museum shelves than sneaker closets.
