Nike SB turned the sneaker world on its head by repurposing the old-school basketball shoe-turned-lifestyle classic, the Nike Dunk, into a skate-optimized silhouette. Ever since, SB has been taking classic Nike models and souping them up for the board, from Blazers to Bruins, and this year, the Air Max 95. Now, after months of rumors about a Nike SB Air Force 1, we’re finally starting to see the pair on-foot from some of the world’s best skaters.
In a since-deleted Instagram post, NYC-based pro skater and Nike SB team rider Karim Callender was spotted out in a pair of Nike SB Air Force 1 Low Flax samples, giving us the first clear look at the shoe on foot. Starting with the classic Timberland boot-inspired monochrome wheat colorway, the SB AF1 is retooled with a fat tongue just like the SB Dunk and what looks like a slightly taken-down midsole, which would make sense considering how thick the sole is on traditional Forces. The shoe features a Nike SB tongue logo and a Nike SB Air logo on the heel.
