In this fast-fashion, disposable consumerism culture we live in, some things are still aging like fine wine. Nike debuted the first Air Jordan in 1985, and over the past 40 years, Beaverton has brought out a new silhouette every year without fail. Sure, there have been plenty of misses in between the classics, but there’s something to be said for consistency, right?
The Air Jordan 40 is Mike’s latest signature model, and the newest colorway revisits a classic from the early Jumpman era, bringing the red wine-themed Bordeaux burgundy to the sleek silhouette. Covered in a rich pebbled leather, the monochrome upper brings attention to the simple panel blocking and its subtle Jordan 3 design references. The ZoomX midsole is a matching red wine burgundy with a slightly darker purple on the toecap and tongue. Other design details are inspired by previous Air Jordan retros, including the AJ 13’s reflective upper (on the tongue here), the tongue of the Jordan 5, and the Jordan 12’s Jumpman on the outsole.
Air Jordan 40 Bordeaux
The Jordan 40 debuted in June, and the minimally-branded model has been covered in a few notable colorways since, including a monochrome pink and a blue suede colorway, plus a Jordan 1 colorway with an added side panel Swoosh for an OG feel.
The Air Jordan 40 Bordeaux will be released Holiday 2025 through Nike and select Jordan Brand retailers online and in-store. Available in men’s sizing, the retail price is $205.
