The adidas AE 2 Black Yellow features a black mesh base across the side panels, tongue, and ankle collar. The toe, midsole, and structural panels are all done in a bright yellow for a classic two-tone look. The AE tongue logo gets the same shade of yellow, as well as the adidas logo on the heel. The heel support panel is done in a carbon fiber-style makeup, with a reflective yellow hit on the vamp staying consistent with past AE 2 colorways.
Across sneaker brands, the two-tone black and yellow colorway has been featured in so many official and unofficial collabs that it has automatic connotations depending on your pop culture fandom: for some, the mix is a Bruce Lee shoutout, for others its a Wu-Tang mix, and for others it is all about Tarantino’s Kill Bill series. No matter what the meaning is, the black and yellow mix will forever be iconic.
