Nike Has Unveiled a New Nike SNKRS Drop Method — SNKRS Link
Published
We’ve grown tired of the same “shock drop” on the Nike SNKRS app, where everyone online knows exactly when the pair will drop. Early links have ruined Nike’s plans to surprise us with these releases, but a new method employed on the recent Nike SB x Air Jordan 4 Summit White Navy is about to become more common amongst hype drops — SNKRS Link.
To give some context on the SB Jordan 4, Nike loaded the pair as an Exclusive Access event (learn more about that here), but no one was getting access via the usual means. Eric Koston, the long-time Nike SB team rider, posted a link minutes after the expected Exclusive Access time with a direct link to a Scratcher on the SNKRS app. There was no way to access the product page without this direct link.
Nike has explained the method and how it will work in the future. SNKRS Link is described as “an exclusive launch experience that gives you access to drops and collaborations like never before.” Essentially, the idea is that true fans of collaborations and select products can access releases. The SNKRS Link launch experience is only accessible through a unique link that SNKRS or partners will share through social media posts, QR codes, or other unique access points.

For example, say Travis Scott is about to release a brand new collab. Instead of going to the Nike SNKRS App at 10:00 AM ET on launch day and entering the draw, Travis could share a direct link on his Instagram story or X account that allows fans to enter the release.
As stated at the start of this post, “shock drops” have no longer become special moments where fans can look forward to copping a pair ahead of the rest, as at this point, everyone is aware of when and where it will go down. In theory, employing this new release method will allow true fans of collaborations and sneakers to have a higher chance of getting pairs.
