The WNBA is everywhere. The superstar-driven league has been gaining traction for years, but the W’s popularity has exploded over the past few seasons. Rising ratings, record-setting crowds, and expansion into five new cities before the decade is over are all signs of a new chapter for the league. The WNBA’s growing prominence has especially been a huge win for sneakerheads, with dozens of new silhouettes and colorways designed specifically for the world’s best female players.

After jumping into the hoops world in 2023, Skechers has spent the last year pushing the envelope for women’s basketball, signing three WNBA stars: Rickea Jackson, Jackie Young, and Kiki Iriafen, and consistently rolling out colorways in the SKX Nexus. Like the WNBA, Skechers is making its mark across the basketball space. Earlier this summer, the brand introduced the new SKX Full-Court Press—a sleek, low-top design created for players who work every inch of the court.

The SKX Full-Court Press and SKX Nexus are the consensus favorites of the Skechers WNBA squad—mixing on-court performance, comfort, and customizable style to create the kind of basketball shoes that can carry a brand to new heights. Jackson, Iriafen, and Young revealed to Sole Retriever why they chose to partner with Skechers and what makes them feel confident hitting the court in the brand’s performance basketball shoes.

“What makes Skechers stand out is that I never have to choose between comfort and style,” Iriafen said. “I get to wear shoes that perform at the highest level and look great on the court. It doesn’t take much to break in my shoes, and they feel game-ready straight out of the box.”

Those same sentiments are shared by LA Sparks forward Rickea Jackson, who recently made headlines with a custom Beauty and the Beast Player Edition colorway of the SKX Full-Court Press designed after her silky smooth but aggressive playing style.

“Being part of a brand that’s pushing boundaries and challenging expectations makes me feel seen as both an athlete and an individual,” Rickea Jackson said. “Skechers is about performance, yes, but also about expression and evolution — and that mirrors my own journey on and off the court.”

The SKX Full-Court Press combines a mesh upper with TPU overlays for stability and breathability, plus a TPU Versa Wing, and the custom Move Foam insole adds support without sacrificing comfort, all sitting on top of a Goodyear performance outsole for insane amounts of on-court grip.

“Skechers is making it clear they’re not here to play it safe — they’re here to change the game,” Jackson added. “By stepping into performance basketball with such intention and innovation, they’re showing that athletes deserve fresh energy, bold design, and real support. It’s about disrupting the norm and raising the bar, and I’m proud to be a part of that movement.”

The SKX Nexus has been a hit among Skechers basketball pros since its debut last year, with the brand introducing several colorways that continue to make it a coveted style. Perfect for players who prefer a sleek, slimmed-down silhouette, the SKX Nexus is designed for speed and quick cuts, adding lockdown ankle support and a breathable mesh upper combined with a torsion plate underfoot for endless stability.

Las Vegas Aces guard, Jackie Young, who recently joined the Skechers family and competes in the SKX Nexus on court, shared her thoughts on what it means to partner with the brand.

“Skechers might be newer to basketball, but what really stood out to me is their focus on innovation and putting athletes first,” Las Vegas Aces Guard Jackie Young said. “They’re not just following the crowd—they’re creating something fresh that’s all about performance, comfort, and style.”
