To celebrate the 25th birthday of Christian Tresser's classic, Nike has been dropping a ton of must-have Air Max 97 colorways over the past few months. First unveiled in 1997, the water ripple-inspired sneaker continues to look incredibly futuristic even by today's standards, and the upcoming Nike Air Max 97 Premium "Toggle" takes this avant-garde aesthetic to another dimension with a revamped lacing system.
From a distance, the AM 97 Premium "Toggle" may look like another Air Max 97, but upon closer inspection you'll find that there's way more than meets the eye. Falling in line with the "Panda" colorway that's all the rage these days, the top half of the upper is crafted from mesh and leather, while the bottom half opts for a supple suede. A light silver Swoosh shoots across the side panels, while a coconut milk and icy rubber outsole combination offer up a vintage vibe that is sure to turn heads. Of course, the star of the show has got to be the toggle switch setup that gives the Air Max 97 a utilitarian vibe. The Beaverton brand has been experimenting with this design for many other silhouettes over the past few weeks, including the Nike Air Force 1 "Toggle" that was just announced earlier this month.
The Nike Air Max 97 Premium Toggle Black White W is scheduled to release in Holiday 2022 and will be exclusively available in women's sizes at Nike, the SNKRS app, and select stockists online and in-store.
