Since the days of Run-DMC, adidas Superstars and leather jackets have gone together like peanut butter and jelly or DJs and emcees. The Three Stripes has kept up the retro classic hip-hop vibes in the decades since, especially when it comes to the iconic Superstar silhouette, and for the brand’s latest shell toe collab, they tapped one of the era’s most iconic leather jacket makers.

The Avirex x adidas collection features a clothing capsule highlighted by a cross-branded leather jacket, plus a retooled Superstar collab with a folded-over soccer tongue. The remixed shell toe debuted in a campaign featuring New York rapper Joey Bada$$, keeping with Avirex’s East Coast classic vibe and the Superstar’s rap legacy. Starting with a white shell toe and a white leather upper, the Three Stripes are outlined in black with white in the middle. The simple colorway draws all of your attention to the large folded tongue that covers the lace panel. Avirex is written on the tongue in black above a Trefoil logo, and the collab branding continues on the heel and insoles.

The Superstar hasn’t been a superstar of the adidas lineup for a few years now, but after dressing up the silhouette with luxe leather colorways earlier this year, adidas has gone all out for the shell toe to end the year. Tapping some of the streetwear world’s biggest young brands for Superstar collabs, we’ve already seen colorways from Hellstar, Sp5der, Menace, and Dios.

The Avirex x adidas collection will be released October 20, 2025 exclusively at the adidas flagship store in New York City. As for the Superstars, we’re still waiting to hear on the sizing and price info. For all the latest adidas collab news and drop details, make sure to check out the Sole Retriever mobile app.
