After launching his first signature sneaker with Under Armour and Curry Brand, De’Aaron Fox has not slowed down in offering versions of his model. What began with the Happy Fox Day colorway has already expanded to include two more colorways, The Beam and Happy Fox Day Alt, with January set to introduce us to a fourth release of the sneaker. For this new colorway, Fox and Under Armour take inspiration from De’Aaron’s favorite Sacramento-based taco truck, Banzito Tacos.
Founded in 2023, Banzito Tacos has become a staple of Sacramento Kings games. The truck is often parked outside the Golden1 Arena on game day and is a favorite of Kings players. Fox even recently celebrated his birthday by grabbing a few tacos at the truck. He previously honored Banzito through a Curry 1 FloTro PE back in March of this year, and after rocking the shoes in a game against the Spurs, Fox tweeted at the stand and asked owner Adam Saldaña to save him some carne asada tacos.
As for this pair that the public will have a shot at, Fox translates the restaurant’s mascot into sneaker form by applying a yellow color palette to the mesh, TPU, and leather panels of the upper. His fox tail-inspired lockdown strap is black to match the faux fox fur on the tongue tag and the mesh sockliner. Hits of blue, found on the bandana worn by the skull mascot of Banzito, come located on the two-tone lace set, the curry logo on the tip of the toe, and the Fox logo along the tongue tag. The UA Flow midsole below contains a gradient yellow to orange finish near the top half and a solid black finish on the bottom.
The Under Armour Curry Fox 1 Banzito will release on January 10, 2025, through Under Armour and select retailers online and in-store. Under Armour members have early access to the pair starting January 8. Available in men’s sizing, the retail price is $120.
