Colorways of Devin Booker’s first signature model with Nike, the Book 1, have been masterfully executed. Some recent and upcoming colorways have been able to harken back to classics in Nike’s archives, like the Forrest Gump and Mowabb renditions, and recall some of Book's interests, like hiking in Sedona. This theme of the great outdoors was also explored on previous Book 1s and will continue with the all-new Flagstaff colorway.
Paying homage to Flagstaff, Arizona, the pair follows in the footsteps of the aforementioned Sedona pair in referencing a region of Arizona where Booker calls home during the NBA season as a member of the Phoneix Suns. We see a reworked construction, swapping out the usual canvas twill and leather for an all-over nubuck finish covered in topographic-inspired embroidery. This look, alongside the embroidery, comes in a single shade of fir green to reference the forests that surround the city.
Contrasting the deep green shade is a white outlined Swoosh on the midfoot and the textile surrounding the topmost eyelet, the former working back to the heel tab that removes the usual book spine-inspired pull tab. Here, we find the phrase “No Service” on the left pair and “Flagstaff” on the right, cementing the connection to the Arizona city. Like the Sedona pair, the tongue tag contains a custom mountain graphic depicting a serene sunset alongside Book branding. The tonal green rubber midsole finishes the design and is paired with a gum rubber outsole.
The Nike Book 1 Flagstaff will release on February 15, 2025, through Nike and select retailers online and in-store. Available in men’s sizing, the retail price is $140.
