Unlike many of his contemporaries, the design language around Devin Booker's first signature sneaker with Nike, the Nike Book 1, leaned more into a retro and vintage aesthetic that Book and Nike dubbed a "future classic." This ethos has helped inform the sneaker's design, giving it the exterior look of a retro model with the interior tooling of a modern-day performance sneaker and allowing the model to borrow from classic Nike sneakers. Most of these pairs have been worn by Booker on the court, with some, like the Forrest Gump, coming to retail. Joining the PE-to-retail train is the Book 1 Mowabb.
Inspired by the Nike ACG Mowabb, the silhouette directly translates the color palette used on this '90s model onto the Book 1, specifically the OG Twine colorway. Traditional construction for the sneaker is present, using a workwear-inspired canvas twill on the midfoot panel, perforated suede on the collar and tongue, and leather panels on the mudguard and eyestays. A sesame shade is present on most of the upper, with aqua-blue pops on the collar and tongue.

More accenting hits are located on the Swoosh, which takes on a black finish and is outlined in bright mandarin, the mini Swoosh on the lateral toe, and the lace aglets. Back on the heel, we see a book spine-inspired pull tab resting above the dark green suede patch. The speckled rubber midsole finishes the design and is paired with a blue and black rubber outsole.
The Nike Book 1 Mowabb releases in March 2025 through Nike and select retailers online and in-store. Available in men’s sizing, the retail price is $150. Download the Sole Retriever mobile app to stay updated on the latest releases, raffles, news, and more in the sneaker and streetwear world.
