When it comes to collaborative efforts, New Balance has been making its mark thanks to timely link-ups with the likes of Joe Freshgoods, Aime Leon Dore, and most recently with Patta on the NB 990v3. One partner that consistently gets to collaborate with the Boston-based brand is actually just down the road from NBs headquarters, the retailer, Bodega. Previously working on the 574 and 990v3, the duo has come together to work on one of NBs latest silhouettes, the 9060.
Like many classic Bodega collaborations, the retailer brings a combination of colorful hues and earth-tone shades across the suede and mesh construction. Starting on the toebox, hairy brown suede sits atop a light blue mesh, both of which sit below the dark blue suede overlay that wraps back towards the heel. Tonal brown laces sit atop the sandwich mesh-covered tongue in the same hue while the top of the tongue hosts a volt green “NB 9060” window in the center of its grey ultra-shaggy suede. Further branding details come via the “N” logo on the midfoot, coming in a silver finish with white piping details surrounding it on the lateral side while the medial side comes in a dash pattern and receives a purple makeover. A secondary mesh design is utilized back on the collar and comes similar to the tongue’s sandwich mesh, resting between another hit of grey shaggy suede. Co-branding is only visible on the insole with both brands’ logos featured atop a purplish-brown foam insert. Rounding out the design is the tri-tone white, grey, and cream midsole while the diamond-shaped traction pods on the rubber outsole come in a brown finish.
